Mission:

Transcend aims to reimagine "school" for 21st century learners and to fundamentally transform learner agency and engagement. In this vision of flexible, personalized learning environments, school is designed around each learner's goals, needs, and learning styles rather than around non-existent "average" learners.

Vision:

Turnaround believes in a new reality for public education:

Transcend envision better school models that prepares and inspires all students for long-term success through more personalized and flexible learning methods, students driving their own learning, interdisciplinary experiences, and deliberately diverse communities.

Approach:

Transcend accelerates innovation in school model design in the following ways:

  • Building and spreading innovative models in partnership with visionary school communities.
  • Building and deploying a diverse force of R&D talent, called the Yellow Hats League, to develop, codify and spread these new learning models.
  • Building and sharing actionable knowledge to inform the innovation process with evidence-based insights.

Impact:

Since its inception in 2015, Transcend has supported over 25 school operator partners (including Achievement First, Lindsay Unified School District, and Gestalt Community Schools) in advancing their work of designing, building, and codifying breakthrough whole-school models. Transcend has also built the Yellow Hats League, a diverse, world-class talent force of 150+ education R&D experts that provide critical inspiration, expertise, and capacity for school redesign work.
